My honest take: the weight made it more secure during use but added enough physical sensation that I became more aware of the mask, not less. For me the standard version was preferable. If you're someone who finds weighted blankets deeply comforting, you might prefer the weighted cups.
What I Tried Before This
- Amazon generic fabric mask ($8): Pressed against eyes, let in light at edges, fell off on my side.
- Silk mask ($22): Better than fabric for skin, same eye-pressure problem, slightly better light blocking.
- TEMPUR travel mask: Dense foam, no eye pressure but rigid shape that didn't fit my face well.
